Volleyball Completes Unbeaten NAC Regular Season with Wins over Cobleskill, Poly on Senior Day

DELHI, N.Y. (October 24, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team claimed undefeated supremacy in the NAC West Sunday with a pair of victories over SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Poly in a home tri-match. The Broncos defeated the Fighting Tigers in four frames and posted a sweep over the Wildcats to finish their NAC West regular season at 8-0 and 19-5 overall. Delhi will serve as the top seed and hosts of next weekend's NAC West Tournament. Sunday also marked the team's senior day, recognizing their lone graduating student-athlete in middle hitter Witchney Clersainville, who will earn her Bachelor's this spring in Healthcare Management.

The Broncos have one more regular season test, hosting Utica Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Full information on next weekend's NAC West Tournament will be made available once all conference regular season competition is completed. SUNY Delhi is currently slated to play the first game on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. versus the fourth seed, while the second and third seeds will play at 5:00 p.m. The winners will play on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

DELHI 3, COBLESKILL 1

The Broncos appeared settled in after a 25-15 opening-set win, but were struck by Cobleskill garnering a 25-21 second-set win to tie the match. Delhi rallied furiously for a 25-12 third-set victory that carried on to a 25-22 victory in the fourth frame for the season sweep of the Fighting Tigers.

Stephanie Burke charted a game-high nine kills with 15 digs, while Witchney Clersainville and Lexi Taylor tallied seven kills. Clersainville also jumped to one solo block and two assists. Bailee Jones registered four service aces with five kills and 12 digs. Setter Grace Thomas tallied a leading 29 assists, along with 15 digs and three kills. Marie Julian totaled five kills with nine digs.

DELHI 3, POLY 0

Senior middle hitter Witchney Clersainville was recongized prior to the day's final game with the Wildcats, treating her family, friends, and fans in attendance with a game-high ten kills on a staggering .769 kill percentage and three block assists. The Broncos cruised to 25-19, 25-15, and 25-18 wins, even overcoming a 16-13 last-set deficit on the heels of Rebecca Heuler and Stephanie Burke serving rallies.

The Broncos combined for 35 kills on a .302 hitting percentage. Lexi Taylor drove in six kills on a .667 kill percentage with two block assists. Sage Renneisen also charted six kills on a .357 percentage. Grace Thomas brought the assists with 25, along with nine digs and four kills. Delhi also served up nine aces, led by Bailee Jones' five and Stephanie Burke's three.
