Delhi Volleyball Wins in Five at Sarah Lawrence for First Victory

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (September 4, 2021) – SUNY Delhi volleyball got their first win of 2021 in satisfying fashion Saturday on the road at Sarah Lawrence in five sets. The women overcame a first-set defeat by taking the next two frames. The Gryphons responded with a close fourth-set victory to force the deciding set. Facing an 13-11 deficit, Delhi reeled off five of the next six points, including three straight to reverse SLC's match points, to secure the 16-14 win. Head coach Beau Bracchy's team is 1-2.

The Broncos' scores by set were 16-25, 25-12, 25-21, 22-25, and 16-14.

Newcomers Grace Thomas and Bailee Jones led the way in scoring, with Grace totaling a triple double with a team-best ten kills and 21 assists, as well as 13 digs, and Jones second with nine kills and 17 digs. Jones and freshman Kaylin Hamilton had a team-high three service aces, with Hamilton leading the match with 35 digs. Lexi Taylor and Witchney Clersainville each charted eight kills, with Clersainville carrying one block solo and one block assist.

Delhi looks to stay in the win column on Wednesday, traveling to Utica for a 7:00 p.m. first serve.
