Broncos Serve Up Home Opener Thursday Against Marywood

DELHI, N.Y. (September 3, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball squad welcomed an electric student crowd to open their home season Thursday night for a match with Marywood. The match featured a close first three sets, with the Broncos coming out on top in the opening frame 27-25. It would be their lone victory, however, as the visiting Pacers claimed the next three rounds for a four-set win.

Set point changed over three times in the first set, beginning with Delhi going up 24-22. Marywood ran off the next three points to lead 25-24, only for the Broncos to return the favor with a 27-25 victory. The Pacers jumped out in front in set two, holding as much as a six-point lead halfway through to carry them to a 25-20 win. The Broncos were up in set three 15-10 before Marywood staged a 15-8 run to win game three 25-23. With Delhi up 7-6, the Pacers ran off eight straight points and ten of the next 11 on their way to a match-clinching 25-14 decision.

For the second straight game, Bailee Jones led the team with ten kills, as well as a team-best 16 digs. Grace Thomas ranked second with eight kills and administering a club-best 19 assists and three service aces, adding 12 digs. Gabriela Kralik had ten digs. Witchney Clersainville had six kills and three blocks, including one block solo.

Head coach Beau Bracchy's team's next challenge is at Sarah Lawrence this Saturday, Sept. 4 at 1:00 p.m.
