DELHI, N.Y. (September 28, 2021) - SUNY Delhi women's volleyball's Stephanie Burke (West Winfield, NY) and men's golf's Thomas Long (La Fayette, NY / La Fayette) put in impressive performances to earn themselves this week's Limitless Photos Broncos of the Week!
Burke was at or near the top of the Broncos' scoring list in Delhi's 5-0 week to pump its record to 9-3, winning nine of their last ten matches. She started last Tuesday contributing three kills through two sets in an evenly-spread scoring night for the Broncos to take a swift 3-0 win over Keystone. On Thursday Burke led with a staggering 11 kills and seven service aces in Delhi's four-set victory of Clarks Summit. The Broncos took their show on the road at Saturday's Worcester State Tournament, going two-for-two with wins over Fitchburg State and the host Lancers. Burke made her mark with a game-high seven kills to go with a pair of aces against the Falcons, then hours later pulling out six kills, four service aces, and 16 digs to beat Worcester. Finally in Monday night's five-set home thriller to defeat Elmira, the utility player from West Winfield, NY led the green and gold with 11 kills and adding 13 digs with three block assists as Delhi claimed its first-ever win over the Soaring Eagles in seven tries dating back to 2015. In all, Burke's five-match week accounted for 38 kills, .202 kill percentage, 13 service aces, 37 digs, and 53 total points.
Long took home a 14th-place finish at this weekend's SUNY Oswego Fall Invitational, shooting consistently with an 81 Saturday and 82 Sunday for a 163 total (+21) at the par-71, 6424-yard Oswego Country Club. The Broncos finished fourth in the nine-team scoring field. The golf team is set to host the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships next Saturday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 10 at The College Golf Course in hopes of repeating as conference champions for the third straight year.
