Volleyball Earns Fourth Straight Sweep at Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (October 19, 2021) - The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team picked up their fourth consecutive three-set win at Bard in a non-conference battle Tuesday night. The Broncos' 11th sweep victory of the year gives them an overall record of 17-5 with three regular-season matches still to play, all at home.

The Broncos started off strong in set one, keeping a strong lead over the Raptors. By the first timeout, Delhi had an eight-point lead at 13-5, then opened it up to as much as 12 points for its biggest win of the night, 25-13. Bard came back in set two looking to steal a set, taking the first two points to start. The Broncos responded by railing off three straight points to take the lead and keep it for a 25-17 victory. The resilient Raptors refused to back down, starting set three with a 7-3 lead over the Broncos. Delhi battled back to get back ahead 10-9, then sealed the deal with steady play that resulted in a 25-21 win.

Stephanie Burke knocked down a match-high 11 kills for the Broncos while holding a .400 attack percentage. Lexi Taylor added seven kills with zero errors for a .538 attack percentage, while also tallying three block assists and three digs. Rebecca Heuler and Marie Julian both picked up 13 digs, while also showing dominance back at the service line. Heuler landed four service aces and Julian added three more. In the assist column, Grace Thomas led the Broncos with 25 while adding 11 digs and two block assists. The Broncos had a .188 attack percentage with 37 total kills and picking up 49 total digs.

The Broncos, currently 6-0 in the NAC, look to solidy their top spot in the NAC West this Sunday with a home league tri-match against SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Poly starting at 11:00 a.m. The Broncos then end the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 27th at home when they face off with Utica College at 7:00 p.m.
