Broncos Remain Hot with Second Straight NAC Win over Cazenovia

DELHI, N.Y. (September 30, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team's red-hot run continued Thursday night with a three-set sweep of Cazenovia for their seventh straight win to run its record to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the NAC. Delhi has won 11 of its last 12 matches, picking up its second NAC win in as many days following a four-set victory at SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday.

The Broncos had to overcome a resilient Wildcats team in the opening set, who threatened to take an early lead ahead 19-17. An ensuing Caz serving error put Broncos freshman libero Kaylin Hamilton on the serving line, who carried Delhi to three straight points as the team won seven of the next nine for a 25-21 win. Delhi kicked into another gear with a staggering 19-3 lead to open set two on the way to a 25-13 victory. The team finally stormed out of the gate in set three with a 16-6 win towards a 25-14 victory.

Delhi never finished below a .200 kill percentage in any set for a .237 total on 43 kills and just 16 errors. Bailee Jones and Stephanie Burke led the way with 11 kills, with Jones delivering a whopping .357 percentage with just one error and one service ace. Lexi Taylor was next in line with six kills and one block assist and Sage Renneisen with five kills. Setter Grace Thomas delivered 26 assists and four service aces, while Hamilton led with 19 digs and Marie Julian with ten digs and three kills. Witchney Clersainville had four kills with one block assist.

Head coach Beau Bracchy's team plays host to NAC-foe SUNY Canton this Sunday at 12 noon before embarking on a seven-match road trip that opens at Hartwick Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and a NAC match at SUNY Poly next Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
