Bronco of the Week #6 Mavenson Therneus & Lorenzo Castro (3/6)

For the sixth edition of the Bronco of the Week, we take a closer look at track and field's Lorenzo Castro and men's basketball player Mavenson Therneus after their spectacular performances over the weekend. Both student-athletes performed in the bright lights as the basketball team was in the NCAA Tournament and the track team was at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Championships.

Lorenzo Castro (Monroe, NY - Washingtonville HS) Men's Indoor Track & Field

Sprinter Lorenzo Castro had some of his best days at the indoor championships at the Armory this weekend. He not only was a big part of the men's 4x200 meter relay breaking their own record previously set this year. The team combined for a 1:28.83 which was almost a second faster than the last record set at Utica. Castro also broke his personal record in the 400-meter race with an excellent time of 50.18, placing him 12th overall at the championships.

Mavenson Therneus (Spring Valley, NY - Spring Valley) Men's Basketball

Mavenson finished off his basketball career in Delhi in style, not only playing in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance but leading the team in that game. He was just one point shy of a double-double in his final career game with 10 points and nine rebounds. Therneus was all over the court, finishing with two assists, one steal and a block. He ends his SUNY Delhi career as the program leading scorer with 1,265 total points.
