Men’s Basketball Clinches Top Spot in NAC West after beating SUNY Canton at Home

Delhi, NY - Delhi Men's Basketball (16-8, 9-4) faced NAC opponent SUNY Canton late Friday night and left with a 97-83 win. The Broncos remain unstoppable at home this season, bringing their record in Delhi to (11-0). 

The men got off to a hot start in the first half, taking the lead and never giving it back. Pablo Quinones got them started, hitting two three-pointers which sparked the offense. Even though they shot just 38.1% (16-for-42), the Broncos were able to grab a 46-35 lead at the half. They controlled the boards with eight offensive rebounds and 12 second-chance points. Jacob Beach, Lester McCarthy and Mavenson Therneus all had nine points. While Isaiah Barnes was excellent at facilitating the offense with five assists. 

The Broncos would shoot much better in the second half, going 50% (18-for-36) from the field as they held their lead throughout the half. The bench stepped up when given the chance, scoring 23 of their 51 total second-half points. 

Four players reached double-digits in scoring for Delhi as the Broncos had one of their best offensive outputs of the year. Lester McCarthy and Jacob Beach led the way with 18 points each. McCarthy would add eight rebounds and four assists while Beach shot 60% from the field and six rebounds of his own. Barnes would finish with an impressive 10 points, 10 assists, double-double as he was active all over the court. While Therneus ended with 13 points and seven rebounds. 

The Broncos move to their final game of the regular season, taking on NVU-Johnson tomorrow, February 11th at 3 PM in Delhi.
