Men’s Basketball finishes regular season undefeated at home after defeating NVU-Johnson 80-69

Delhi, NY - Delhi Men's Basketball (17-8, 10-4) faced NAC opponents NVU-Johnson at home and won 80-69. The Broncos who clinched the top spot in the NAC yesterday, went (12-0) at home for the first time since joining the NCAA. Before the game, seniors Jacob Beach and Mavenson Therneus were recognized in their final regular season game in Delhi. 

The Broncos jumped out to a 26-11 lead after the offense exploded at the beginning of the first half. They poured in ten total threes in the half as they held an 18-point lead over halfway through. The Badgers would come fighting back, going on an 11-point scoring run to cut the deficit to 42-34 at the break.  Two Broncos led the way on offense at the half as Pablo Quinones and Lester McCarthy put up 11 points each. Senior Mavenson Therneus was also making his presence felt, recording seven points and five rebounds. 

The second half was filled with scoring runs by both teams. The Badgers worked a Delhi lead down to just five points with a minute and a half remaining. The Broncos would step up here, with Therneus knocking down a big three and Naphtali Regilus coming up with two big charges to put the game out of reach. 

Every Bronco starter finished in the double-digits in scoring as the Broncos knocked down an impressive 16 three-pointers. McCarthy and Quinones both hit five threes as they exploded for 19 points each. Isaiah Barnes and Beach were eight behind both putting up 14. Barnes had a great day, dishing out six assists and grabbing seven rebounds. While Therneus ended with 11 points and nine rebounds. 

The Broncos will stay tuned to see who they host for next week's NAC Tournament.
