Delhi Drops Second Round of Utica Classic; Isiah Barnes has a Season-High 21 points

Utica, NY - After losing in a tough overtime battle in the first round of the Utica Classic Tournament, the Broncos (7-5, 2-1) matched up against Emmanuel College in the consolation round. Their slow start would prove to be too much to come back as Delhi was defeated 83-74.

The Broncos struggled to score out of the gates, shooting just 27.8% as a unit from the field. They would put up just three points in the first four minutes as the Saints built up a 42-27 lead by halftime. Pablo Quinones would be one of six Broncos to score, leading the team with seven first-half points.

Delhi would find some newfound momentum in the second half bringing the Emmanuel lead to single digits in just three minutes. Isiah Barnes would lead the way as they went on a 12-point run to bring them right back in the game. Barnes had an excellent second half putting up 15 points for a total of 21, his season-high.

The Broncos had two other scores in double-digits as Quinones ended with 12 and the most recent 1,000-point member, Mavenson Therneus put up 13. The team scored 47 second-half points but it wouldn't be enough as they couldn't get the defensive stops they needed down the stretch.

The Broncos will look forward to another away game against Bard College at 6:00 P.M. on January 2nd.
