Men’s Basketball takes down NVU-Lyndon at home 84-71 after a big second half

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi men's basketball (9-7, 3-3) team defeated NAC opponents NVU-Lyndon 84-71 at home in a tough game. The Broncos outscored the Hornets 49-28 in the second half to grab the win and remain in the third spot in the NAC West. 

The first half was a tough battle between the two squads, seeing 11 total lead changes as Delhi trailed 43-35 going into the break. The Broncos shot just 31% from the field and 16% from three but were able to grab 11 points off turnovers. Eight players were able to record a basket in the half as point guard Isiah Barnes led the team with eight points. 

The Broncos took over in the second half, outscoring their opponents by 21 total points. They scored an impressive 17 points off their 13 forced turnovers while going on a 15 point scoring run, the largest streak of the game. Barnes continued his great night over to the second half as he finished with a team-high 22 points, six steals and seven rebounds. Mavenson Therneus and Lester McCarthy both added on double-digit points as they combined for 29 total.  Therneus had a solid game as he added on 10 rebounds to grab the double-double. 

The Green and Gold will be right back in action Saturday, January 14th when they take on NAC opponents Maine Farmington at 2:30 in Delhi.
