Women's Volleyball Splits In Home Tri-Match

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team splits their weekend tri-match, falling to MCLA 2-3 (18-25, 25-17, 25-20, 12-25, 13-15) and defeating Paul Smith's College 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-22).

In game one, the first set saw MCLA jump out to an early lead and maintain it throughout (18-25). The Broncos kept competitive as the second set belonged to Delhi in a similar fashion (25-17). Delhi would ride that momentum into the third set, earning themselves a 2-1 lead entering the fourth set. Needing a win to force a deciding set, MCLA did exactly that, taking the set commandingly and would ultimately complete the comeback, narrowly winning the fifth set (15-13).

Delhi's top performers included fifth-year Sage Renneisen, who recorded 11 kills, senior Jaiden Venute posted 32 assists, and on her birthday, sophomore Finley Benn totaled 9 kills and 20 digs.

In game two, the Broncos got back in the win column with the result they were looking for. In a match against a competitive Paul Smith's side that had previously swept MCLA 3-0 the match prior, Delhi returned the favor with a 3-0 sweep of their own.

Delhi dominated the first two sets, taking each by double digits (25-11, 25-13); despite a closer set in the third, the Broncos would be too much to handle, taking the victory and finishing the day off strong. Junior Audrey Logsdon contributed 21 digs, and fifth-year Katelyn Babcock added 7 kills.

The Broncos move to 4-11 and will next play away against Union on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
