Women's Volleyball Moves to 2-1; Defeats Mitchell, Maritime to Close Weekend

Maritime, N.Y. - The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball finished off their weekend strong, earning two victories on the day, first coming against Mitchel (3-1) and later Maritime (3-0), moving their record to 2-1 on the season. 

The Broncos got off to another hot start, finishing the first set with a commanding (24-14) victory. 5th year Michaella DeCapua (22) led the team in assists as sophomore Finley Benn was the beneficiary, leading to her team high contribution of 16 kills. 

Mitchell battled back and earned a similarly commanding victory in the second set (25-16). The tiebreaking third set was an entertaining back-and-forth match that finished with the Broncos merely edging out a (25-22) victory. 

Delhi didn't look back and sealed the match in the fourth set, recording their largest victory (25-10). 5th year Katelyn Babcock and junior Audrey Logsdon contributed solid performances in the contest. 

In game two against Maritime, it was more of the same from the Broncos as the team remained hot. The squad faced three competitive sets coming out on top in all three to complete the sweep (25-19, 25-19, 25-22) as they shift their attention towards the Sept. 4 home opener against Oneonta. 

Key contributors from game two included 5th year Sage Renneisen recording 9 kills and sophomore Madelyn Diep finishing with a well-rounded 9 kills and 12 digs.
