Women's Volleyball Falls to Farmingdale State, 3-1, in Season Opener

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The SUNY Delhi women's volleyball team were off to a hot start, winning their first set of the year (25-18) before ultimately falling 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14, 25-12) to Farmingdale St.

The Broncos proved to be competitive against a tough Farmingdale side, starting off with a victory in the first set. Sophomores Finley Benn (9) and Madelyn Diep (7) led the team in kills, providing a strong attack.

Delhi looked to extend their lead to two sets and was on their way holding a (17-14) lead late before Farmingdale ultimately came back to win the set (25-19). Junior Audrey Logsdon and sophomore Brooke Schoppmeyer both had positive outings on the defensive side, contributing 18 digs each on the night.

Farmingdale eventually went on to pull away in the final two sets as they move to 1-0 overall with the win and next hosts Rutgers-Newark on Sept. 5. Delhi, which falls to 0-1 overall with the loss, faces Mitchell (1 p.m.) and Maritime (3 p.m.) tomorrow to close out the weekend.
