Delhi, NY - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Championship took place Saturday afternoon at Floyd L. Maines Arena between the Broncos of Delhi and the Badgers of Johnson.
Delhi defeated Johnson the first go-around in a one-point thriller, but the Badgers would return the favor with an emphatic road victory of their own. It would be the Badgers taking the early lead in the deciding third match, finding themselves ahead by double digits in the first half. The Broncos would answer late in the first half with a run of their own to cut the deficit to just two points at the break. A trip to the NAC Championship on the line, both teams would bring their A-game for the second half. The contest would be a back-and-forth affair down to the final whistle. In the end, the Badgers of Johnson would escape with the narrow 68-65 victory and advance to the NAC Championship.
Delhi's top performers included senior Lester McCarthy leading the way for the Broncos with 21 points. Senior Isiah Barnes posted 9 points to go along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds, while senior Brennan Heaven totaled 9 points and 6 rebounds. The Broncos shift their attention to the offseason as they prepare for the upcoming season.
