Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi men's soccer team was back in action Saturday, coming up short against Thomas 2-0 in the NAC Championship.
In the biggest game of the season, both sides came to play in a physical back-and-forth contest from start to finish. The Terriers would open up the scoring early with a header from Cody Robinson off a cross from David Ivarsson. Delhi would increase their level of play following the goal, putting pressure on Thomas for the remainder of the half. The score would remain at 1-0 heading into the break.
The pressure didn't let off from the Broncos, creating several quality scoring chances that would all be turned away from Terriers goalkeeper Jamie Fischer. Sophomore goalkeeper Salvatore Meloni would have a day of his own, making several key saves to keep Delhi in striking distance. In a last effort to find an equalizer, Thomas would put the game out of reach, with Cody Robinson slotting home his second of the game.
The Broncos fall short in the conference championship and will shift their focus to next season, finishing the year with a 9-6-4 record going 6-0 in conference play.
