Men's Soccer Dominates On Senior Day, Velasquez-Osorio Breaks Program Goals Record

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi men's soccer team dominates, defeating SUNY ESF 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos would start fast in a fitting way when senior Cristobal Garzon scored 15 minutes in on his senior day to give Delhi the early 1-0 lead. Delhi would control the majority of the match, outshooting ESF 20 to 6 on the day. However, ESF would temporarily keep the match close going into the break, only trailing 1-0.

Delhi wasted no time to expand on their lead, scoring less than a minute into the second half, as Gabriel Monterrosa would score his first goal of the season from distance on an assist from sophomore Roberto Velasquez-Osorio. Just three minutes later, Roberto Velasquez-Osorio would add a goal of his own, his seventh on the season and 31st career goal, setting a new program record. First-year Robert Mercilliott would seemingly finish off the game, scoring his third goal of the year on a pass from John Walsh to give the Broncos a 4-0 lead. ESF would continue to battle, finding their lone goal late, with Jacob Tamarche bringing the score to 4-1.

The Broncos move to 7-4-4, 5-0 in conference play and will next play tomorrow at home against SUNY Cortland.
