Matthew Esposito

Matthew Esposito was named the head men’s soccer coach prior to the 2024 season, as he begins his first campaign with the Broncos in 2024. 
 
Esposito most recently had rejoined the RPI coaching staff in March of 2022 after spending the previous three seasons as the head coach at Russell Sage College.
 
RPI earned 2022 and 2023 Liberty League playoff appearances and reached the semifinal match in 2023. 
 
Esposito posted a 21-19-2 overall mark with the Gators. During the 2019 campaign, Sage won nine games and finished second in the Empire 8. During the 2020-21 season, he led the Gators to a third place finish and an appearance in the conference title match.
 
In the summer of 2021, Esposito was the head coach for the New York Shockers in their inaugural season in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). He led the club to a 6-3-2 mark and a semifinal appearance in the Division Playoffs.
 
A 2013 graduate of Eastern Connecticut State, Esposito was a two-year captain, leading the squad to numerous post-season appearances, including three consecutive NCAA appearances from 2009-2011. He finished his career earning a spot on the 2011 Little East Conference First-Team and was the LEC Tournament MVP. 
 
After graduating from ECSU, he remained with his alma mater and served as an assistant coach helping to lead the program to a 23-10-5 record in two and half years. Following his time at ECSU, he joined the staff at Utica College, where he assisted with all aspects of the program for the Pioneers as a member of the Empire 8.
 
Active with the New York Elite Alleycats FC, he is the head coach of the U-15 boys team and the club's College Placement Coordinator.
 
A native of East Haven, Connecticut, Esposito holds a USSF C License, as well as a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level I Diploma.
