Junior Marissa Lombardi becomes second bronco to break 10,000 Meter Record within two weeks

Utica, NY - The Broncos Track and Field Team headed north for the Utica University Spring Invite this weekend. The women's meet was highlighted by a new school record in the 10,000 meters for the second weekend in a row and the men by two event wins from both Deron Davis and Morgan Condon.

How it Happened:

Last weekend, freshman Alexa Wolcott broke Gabby Dello's school 10,000-meter record that had stood as the program standard for 15 years. The new mark lasted only one week as Marissa Lombardi ran her first 10k race of the season and dropped a lifetime best to cut another nine seconds off the record. Lombardi crossed the line in 42:09.00 to place fourth overall in the race. She went through 5,000 meters in 20:58 and came home in 21:11 for the record, dropping one minute and 15 seconds off her previous best.

The women also picked up two event wins on the day. Miranda Cole ran a new season best of 26.11 to win the 200-meter dash. She also finished third overall in the 100 meters with a season best time of 12.83 seconds. The other first place finish for Delhi's women came from Kitty Messina who won the shot put with a mark of 11.30 meters, also a season best for her.

Other top finishes for the Broncos came from Sabrina Richards placing second in the 400 meters (1:00.24), Zoe Rodi placing third in the 400 meters (1:01.64) and Alexa Wolcott placing fourth in the 1500 meters (5:09.46)

The men's team was led by Deron Davis and Morgan Condon. Davis won the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.07 and 22.53 respectively. Condon won the 110-meter-high hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles in times of 15.86 and 57.20 respectively. The final event win for Delhi came from Joshua Jeffes in the 400 meters where he ran 48.48 seconds.

Other top finishes for the men came from Aidan Cutting placing second in the 1,500 meters (4:07.43), Joey Ciufo placing third in the 110 high hurdles (17.05), Lorenzo Castro placing third in the 400 meters (50.56) and Cristhian Cuevas placing fourth in the 200 meters (23.06).
