Relay Records Fall at AARTFC Championships

New York City, NY - The Bronco Track and Field team traveled to the storied New York City Armory for the All Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships help on Friday and Saturday.  The highlight of the weekend for the Broncos came near the end of the meet as both the men and women broke the school records in the 4x200 meter relay.

The women's relay team of Miranda Cole, Zoe Rodi, Sabrina Richards and Kadie-Ann Whyte ran an unbelievable race and absolutely shattered the school record they established earlier this year.  The quartet took over four seconds off the mark they set at Utica College.  Cole led the team off with a fantastic split of 25.9 seconds, followed by Rodi in 26.6, Richards in 26.4 and Whyte in 25.9.  The teams total time of 1:45.00 was good for sixth place in the meet.

Not to be outdone, the men's relay team also broke their school record set earlier this year.  This time Josh Jeffes led the team off with a split of 21.9 followed by Lorezo Castro in 22.7, Cristian Cuevas in 22.5 and anchored by Deron Davis who ran an incredible 21.67 second split.  The total time of 1:28.83 was good for fourth place in the meet and broke the mark of 1:29.48 they established earlier this season at Utica College.

The Broncos highest finish of the weekend came from Jeffes in the individual 400 meter dash where he ran 48.22 seconds to place third in the race.  Also scoring all-region honors for Delhi was junior John Amenta.  Amenta placed seventh in the 5,000 meter run with a season best time of 15:12.03 which was good for eighth place.

This marks the end of the indoor season for most of the team.  Josh Jeffes will now wait to see where he falls in the final national rankings and will likely be headed to Birmingham, Alabama for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
