More Historic Marks For Track & Field Wraps Up Regular Season

Ithica, NY - The Delhi Track & Field team wrapped up their regular season today at Cornell's Denault Invitational in Ithaca, NY with three program records and many all-time program performances.

The first record to fall was the women's flat track 200-meter dash mark. Miranda Cole posted a huge improvement to run 26.21 seconds, winning her heat and placing third overall. That mark is the fastest flat track time in program history, breaking the mark set last year by Tatianna Kistner when she ran 26.31. Cole also posted a big lifetime best in the 60-meter dash running 8.06 seconds to place third overall in that event. That time lifted her to number five on the all-time list for Delhi.

Freshman Alexa Wolcott ran under 11 minutes for the second weekend in a row. Last week she set the overall program record of 10:59.50 in Boston on a banked track. Fast forward one week and she ran 10:59.57 on a flat track to set that mark for the program.

The final record performance was one that tied a Delhi record. Joshua Jeffes ran 48.92 seconds to place second overall, landing him with the exact time he had run earlier this season when he set the new flat track record for the program.

There were two other all-time performances by Bronco runners. Freshman Zoe Rodi placed fifth in the 60-meter dash with a new lifetime best of 8.17 seconds. That time lifts her to number seven all-time for the 60-meter race. For the men, John Amenta joined the sub-two-minute club in the 800 meters with a huge best of 1:58.17 seconds. That mark also ranks him at number seven all-time in program history.

Other strong performances for the women came from Kadie-Ann Whyte who placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.26 and Sabrina Richards who placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.02.

On the men's side, Freshman Deron Davis placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 22.50, while teammates Christian Cuevas placed sixth in the 200 at 23.21 and Lorenzo Castro placed fourth in the 400 meters at 51.24 seconds.

The team will now start looking forward to the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championships in two weeks. The women have individual qualifiers in Miranda Cole (60m, 200m) and Kadie-Ann Whyte (200m) as well as the 4x200 meter relay. Men with qualifying marks are Deron Davis (60m, 200m), Joshua Jeffes (60m, 200m, 400m), John Amenta (800m, mile, 3000m, 5000m), Lorenzo Castro (400m), Mickenson Simon (60mH), Joey Ciufo (60mH) and relay teams that qualified in the 4x200 meter relay and the Distance Medley Relay.
