Track Is Back with Two Broncos Qualifying for AARTF

Utica, NY - The Delhi Broncos Track and Field teams got back to racing, kicking off 2023 with many strong performances at Utica University's Winter Open.

Freshman Deron Davis posted the most noteworthy performance. Davis ran 7.04 seconds in the 60 meter dash semi-finals to establish a new lifetime best and move up to fifth all-time in program history. He followed that up with the Broncos only individual win of the day when he lowered his time further, posting a 7.01 second race in the final.

Other scorers for the Broncos were led by Lorenzo Castro who scored a second place finish in the 500 meter dash with a strong time of 1:08.38.  Morgan Condon advanced to the final of the men's 60 meter hurdles and placed fifth with a time of 9.27. While John Amenta added a new lifetime best in the mile, running 4:22.89 to place seventh among the collegiate athletes.

The performances by both Davis in the 60 meter dash and Amenta in the one mile run qualified both for the All Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships.

Leading the way for the women's team were sprinters Kadie-Ann Whyte and Miranda Cole. They both advanced to the final of the women's 60 meter dash, running 8.27 and 8.30 seconds respectively to place third and sixth overall in the 15 team meet.

The team will now look ahead to the Hamilton Invitational set to take place on Friday, January 20th.
