Women's Soccer Collects NAC West Division Title

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team was back in action Sunday afternoon, recording the 1-0 victory over Vermont State Johnson in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Final.

In the biggest game of the season, the Broncos stepped up to the challenge, matched up against Johnson, a side that they had split between in the regular season. Delhi would strike early, wasting no time grabbing a 1-0 lead just 5 minutes into the contest. First-year Madison Thorbourne continues her strong rookie campaign, delivering once again for the Broncos, slotting home her 6th goal of the season. In a back-and-forth contest for the remainder of the half, the score would remain the same heading into the break.

It was Delhi's superb defensive display that proved to be the difference. The back line, which consisted of sophmore center backs Ava Britsch and Ava Battista paired with sophomore outside back Jacey Nieckarz and junior Ayla Vorisek, delivered all game long. Sophomore Abigail Allen earned the shutout, collecting 5 saves along the way and helping lift the Broncos to a 1-0 victory.

The Broncos move to 11-5 and will next travel to Husson for the NAC Conference Championship on Saturday, Nov 9.
