Samantha Schmidt was named the head women’s soccer coach prior to the 2025 season, as she begins her first campaign with the Broncos in 2025.

Schmidt, a former student athlete at Russell Sage College, began her coaching career as a graduate assistant in 2022 before being promoted to assistant coach the following year. Schmidt's stint as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Vassar College began in March 2024, where she played a key role in recruiting nationwide talent aligned with the program’s competitive and academic values. She supported student-athletes from initial outreach through official visits and the application process, while also running technical and tactical training sessions. Schmidt scouted future opponents, produced detailed reports analyzing strengths and weaknesses, and oversaw Vassar’s social media presence to promote program culture and achievements. She handled logistics for travel and competition, adhered to NCAA and Liberty League policies, and helped manage game-day operations. During her tenure, the team made a 2024 NCAA Second Round appearance and reached the Liberty League Semifinals, with standout honors including one Liberty League Rookie of the Year, two First Team selections, and three United Soccer Coaches All-Region players. Prior to Vassar, Schmidt worked with the Russell Sage College Women’s Soccer Team from August 2023 to March 2024. She contributed to all facets of training, recruiting, and student-athlete development—helping shape practice plans, mentor players, and foster positive behavior and sportsmanship. Her recruiting efforts supported team growth, and she ensured seamless coordination for off-campus competition through travel and meal arrangements.

In her time as a student-athlete, Schmidt was a four-year member of the women's soccer team at Russell Sage. She was a four-year starter and served as a team captain both as a senior and a graduate student. Schmidt graduated as the program's all-time leader in starts with 72 and was named First Team All-Empire 8 and to the Empire 8 All-Tournament Team in 2021.

Schmidt, who holds a USSF D License, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and her Master's in Childhood/Special Education.
