Women's Soccer Collect Back-To-Back Wins, Defeating Morrisville 2-1

Morrisville, NY - The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team captured a 2-1 victory over Morrisville Tuesday night.

A match between two teams that were very familiar with each other having competed against one another the last couple of seasons as part of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Morrisville has since made the jump this season to competing in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

Morrisville proved to have the upper hand in the first half, jumping out to a hot start and finding the back of the net less than 10 minutes in. Callie Lafontaine scored the lone goal of the match for the Mustangs, her second of the season. Morrisville would cling onto the one-goal lead into the break.

Delhi flipped the script in the second half, finally breaking through the Mustangs defense when junior Gabrielle Avallone, the team's leading goal scorer, recorded her fourth goal of the season, tying the match at one apiece. First-year Madison Thorbourne would add the game-winning goal just minutes later, making it her second goal in her last two games. The Broncos defense would remain strong the rest of the way to secure the 2-1 victory.

The Broncos move to 4-3 and will next play Vermont St. Johnson away on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
