Women's Soccer Drops Home Contest To Wellesley

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 contest against Wellesley College Saturday night.

From kickoff, Wellesley controlled the majority of the match, dominating possession and shots on target. Wellesley acted as the first true test for the Delhi side, a challenge the Broncos were up for. Despite Wellesley's control of the game, the Broncos defense remained strong on the back of an incredible 11-save performance from sophomore goalkeeper Abigail Allen

Delhi kept the match close and entertaining going into halftime tied 0-0. Just a couple minutes into the second half, Wellesley finally broke through with a goal from Solveig Unteroberdoerster, assisted by Isabella Tolosa. Delhi would create several opportunities on the counterattack but failed to find an equalizer.

The Broncos move to 1-1 and will next be on the road, taking on Russell Sage College on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m.
