Women's Soccer Comes up Short Against Hartwick

Delhi, NY - The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team fell to Hartwick College on Tuesday night by a score of 1-0.

Hartwick from the kickoff controlled the majority of the game and scoring chances, recording 19 shots on the night. The Delhi defense was up for the challenge, keeping the Broncos in the contest lead by sophomore goalkeeper Abigail Allen's 8 save performance. Despite the Hawks's control of the match, they were initially unable to find the back of the net. The score remained knotted at zeros until 5 minutes left in the first half when Lily Dempsey slotted one home, assisted by Ella Weber, to put the Hawks up 1-0 heading into half.

The second half brought much of the same, with Hartwick still commanding the match. Delhi's defense did their job in the second half, holding the Hawks scoreless and leaving the door open for a comeback. The Bronco's three generated shots in the second half were not enough to find a late game equalizer.

The Broncos move to 2-3 and will next play at home, taking on Canton on Friday, Sept. 20, at 4:30 p.m.
