Albany, NY - The SUNY Delhi women's soccer team fell to Russell Sage College on Wednesday night by a score of 3-0.
From kickoff, Sage controlled the majority of the match, maintaining a bulk of the possession, earning 7 shots and 3 corner kicks in the first half alone. Despite Sage's control of the game, similar to the squad's contest Saturday against Wellesley, the defense held up, keeping the Broncos in the match. Delhi's defensive performance in the first half came up just short of entering the half with a 0-0 tie, as with less than two minutes left Sofia Sanzo would open up the scoring for the Gators, assisted by Katelyn Odorizzi.
The Gators success and momentum carried into the second half, and despite a combined 9-save effort from Delhi goalkeepers sophomore Abigail Allen and senior Julia Ruppert, Sage would find the back of the net two more times. Katelyn Nelson added a goal of her own, assisted by Madison Byrnes, and just a minute later Lydia Reimer got on the stat sheet with a goal that was assisted by Sofia Sanzo to make things 3-0.
The Broncos move to 1-2 and will next be on the road, taking on MCLA on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m.
