Delhi host first NAC game of season against Cazenovia

Delhi, NY - Delhi softball was back in action this afternoon, facing off with Cazenovia College in a home doubleheader in Delhi. The visiting Wildcats would take the game one North Atlantic Conference match-up 7-4 and the non-conference game two contest 5-2.

How it Happened: Game One: Delhi 4 | Cazenovia 6

The Broncos (3-21, 0-1) fell behind early in game one before cutting the lead to 4-2 after three innings. After being retired in order through innings one and two, the bats woke up for Delhi. Riley Martin would single in the third and score off a Rhianna Iglesias single. Roselyn Monks would triple and score from Kayla Beers' single. Delhi would continue to claw back and tie the game in the bottom of the 5th. Martin would start things off with her second single of the game. Iglesias would reach on an error and advance to 2nd on a groundout by Monks. Beers would bat next with two runners in scoring position and promptly singled up the middle to collect two more RBIs.

Unfortunately, the home team couldn't find a way to get another run across the plate while Cazenovia would regain the lead in the 6th taking the score to its final, 7-4. Monks would add a 7th-inning single to her earlier triple. Kaitlynn Rose went through all 7 innings in the loss for the Broncos.

Game Two: Delhi 2 | Cazenovia 5

Cazenovia would start game two like game one, scoring three first-inning runs. The score would stay that way until the 7th when the Wildcats would tag two more runs to their lead in the visiting half of the inning. The Broncos would make things interesting in the home part of the frame. Iglesias would lead things off with a single followed by a single from Gabriella Narcisse. Miah Hamm would advance the runners with a sacrifice bunt. Monks would collect an RBI with a groundout and Beers would tally another RBI for the afternoon with another single. Danielle Seymour would single and allow the tying run to come to the plate for the Broncos but the game would conclude with the next batter.
