Delhi Softball hosts first doubleheader in 344 days against PSU-Hazelton

Delhi, NY - Delhi women's softball hosted their first games at Robert S. Brown Fields for the first time in 347 days, losing both doubleheader games to Penn State-Hazleton. Both games of the contest went into the final innings as they fell in the first game 4-8 and were defeated in the second game in extra innings 4-2.

How it Happened:

Game 1 Final 8-4 - Seven Innings

The Broncos (3-13) jumped to an early lead in the first inning as Lauren Zecca singled to drive in teammate Sidney Cooper. Cooper would later add to the total with a big single to the outfield with the bases loaded. She knocked in two RBIs as the green and gold broke out to a 4-0 lead. The bats would then go cold as Delhi failed to drive in another run, while Penn State rallied and scored all eight of their runs in the last three innings.

Game 2 Final 4-2 - Eight Innings

The second game of the doubleheaders saw just 11 combined hits between the two teams. The Broncos found themselves down 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th inning after tying the game at 1-1 earlier in the fifth. Cooper once again put the Broncos on her bat, knocking in the tying run with a single to right field. Penn State would then grab two runs in extra innings and hold the Broncos to nothing.

The sophomore, Cooper ended with a team-high four RBIs and four hits in her eight plate appearances. Roselyn Monks also had a solid day in the batter's box for Delhi, scoring a run and driving in an RBI with two hits through both games.
