Softball falls short in doubleheader on the road at Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY - Delhi softball was on the road today for a non-conference doubleheader against Skidmore College. They held leads in both games but the Thoroughbreds would end up sweeping the day, 10-2 in game one and 16-5 in game two.

How it Happened:

The Broncos (3-15) would take an early two-run lead in the first inning as Roselyn Monks would reach base on an error followed by a Kayla Beers single. Monks would advance on a fielder's choice and score off a Lauren Zecca single. The first six batters would reach base for the Broncos but they would only manage to get two runs. Skidmore would answer right back, collecting two runs in the bottom half of the inning before scoring in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Kayla Beers collected two singles for the Broncos while Danielle Seymour pitched for Delhi in the loss; throwing 5.2 innings.

The visiting Broncos would start game two much like the first game, scoring two early runs in the first inning. Monks again reached on an error followed up by another Beers single. Zecca would then double in Monks and Beers two batters later. A three-run top half of the 2nd inning would push the Broncos to a 5-0 lead. Seymour singled to start the inning and would later score on a Riley Martin single. Sidney Cooper would grab two RBIs with a single; scoring Martin and Gabriella Narcisse, who reached on an error three batters earlier. Unfortunately, the lead would only last through the top of the third inning as the Skidmore bats came alive; pounding out 17 hits in the second through fourth innings.

Katelynn Rose would pitch the first three innings before making way for Seymour to finish the game.

What's Next:

The Broncos return to action Monday, April 10 for a home doubleheader against Alfred State at 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
