Delhi Softball finishes day four of Gene Cusic Classic

Naples, FL -- SUNY Delhi softball's fourth game day of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic featured matchups with MCLA and Western Connecticut. The Broncos would fall 10-6 in the first game against MCLA and dropped the second game to Western Connecticut 12-0 in 5-innings.

MCLA would jump out to a 6-0 lead through the first two innings. After a quiet third frame, the bats came alive again for both teams. The Trailblazers would score four times in the top half before Delhi mounted their comeback try in the bottom half of the inning. Starting with a walk by Sidney Cooper, the Broncos would then drive in two runs from singles by Katelynn Rose and Danielle Seymour.

A four-run fifth inning would get the green and gold right back in it. Kayla Beers would double home Roselyn Monk after Monk's lead-off single. Some small ball would eventually score Beers, while Rose and Seymour would collect their second hits and RBIs of the game. Rose and Beers each accounted for three hits each as they wouldn't score again.

Katelynn Rose would pitch all 7 innings with two strikeouts.

In the second game of the day against Western Connecticut, the bats, and gloves for the Broncos never got going. WestConn would score runs in the first four innings of the shortened contest, but Delhi couldn't find an answer even though they would put runners on base in each of the first four innings.

Delhi will conclude their Florida trip tomorrow morning, squaring off against two fellow New York programs in NYU at 9:00 and Alfred State at 11:00 AM EST.
