USCAA DIVISION II COACHES POLL - WEEK FIVE

DELHI, N.Y. (January 18, 2018) – After a successful stretch winning three of its last four contests, the SUNY Delhi men's basketball hung on to their number-14 ranking for the second straight week in the fifth and latest USCAA Division II Coaches' Poll. The Broncos, now 12-10, finally broke into the top 15 last week, celebrating with wins this week over College of St. Joseph, Maine Presque Isle and Fisher.

Head coach Zack Thomsen's team has scored 90 points in four of their last five games, including a season-high 110 points in their 110-58 rout of the Fighting Saints last Wednesday. It was the highest-scoring game for the men in over two years. Sophomore guard William Knight scored a career-high 40 points, making nine 3-pointers while matching his previous high of 22 points in the first half alone. His performance not only marked a new single-game school scoring record under Coach Thomsen, but earned Knight ACAA Player of the Week honors. He followed up with 27 points against NHTI on Saturday, connecting on seven triples.

Delhi followed up by logging wins against Maine Presque Isle, 56-51, on Monday, then avenging an overtime loss to Fisher back in November with a 92-74 drubbing of the Falcons Wednesday. Monday's win over the Owls gives the Broncos a 4-1 record against NCAA Division III opponents this year. The Broncos' next matchup is a road contest at Maine Fort Kent on Friday, who were ranked third in this week's Division I poll, and a home meeting with Alfred State Sunday.

Berkeley (NY), who Delhi defeated back in November for its lone loss this season, were ranked atop the poll again with 248 points. Villa Maria took second again with 247 points, followed by NTHI in third (233 points), Penn State Greater Allegheny fourth (228 points) and Central Maine fifth (226 points).
