USCAA DIVISION II COACHES' POLL - WEEK 8

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (February 8, 2018) – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) released its eighth edition of the Men's Basketball Division II Coaches' Poll, with SUNY Delhi holding down the number-13 spot for the second straight week with 152 points. The Broncos, now 15-12, have won five of their last seven games, and enter their final three games looking to land a bid for the USCAA National Tournament. This is Delhi's fifth straight week ranked in the top 15, at one time being ranked 14th for three consecutive weeks.

Head coach Zack Thomsen's team defeated Davis last Tuesday, 91-60, in their lone game this past week, giving them their second straight win and third in their last four games. This stretch included victories over NCAA Division III foes and fellow SUNY schools Alfred State and SUNY Cobleskill. Delhi is 6-1 this year against NCAA Division III teams. The Broncos have overcome a 0-4 start to the season to now stand three games above .500, with an opportunity to earn one of the six at-large bids for the national championship at Penn State Fayette.

SUNY Delhi will end the regular season with a three-game road trip to polish its bid for the national championship. The Broncos head westward this weekend to play Alfred State on Saturday and Villa Maria on Sunday, before traveling to face SUNY ESF on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The men will then travel back to Villa Maria for the NIAC Tournament the weekend on Feb. 23. The USCAA will announce the Division II Tournament bids on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Berkeley (NY), who Delhi defeated earlier this year for their only loss of the season, remained at number one with 200 points. Villa Maria, who the Broncos play Sunday, were ranked second with 192 points, while Central Penn took third with 191 points, NHTI fourth with 189 points and Penn State Greater Allegheny fifth with 185 points. The Broncos are 3-3 this season against teams that are ranked in this week's poll, including wins over ACPHS (15th, 151 points) and Maine Presque Isle (T-18th, 100 points).
