Payton Dean Earns Second ACAA Player of the Week Award

DELHI, N.Y. (January 23, 2018) – Sophomore forward Payton Dean (Harpursville, NY / Harpursville) was named today the ACAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The 6'7" sophomore picked up his second conference award of the season and followed William Knight to become the second straight Bronco and third overall (the other being Jordan Fragale) to earn ACAA weekly honors.

Delhi crammed four games into its final week before the start of spring semester, with Dean's performances helping them to wins in three of them. The Harpursville, NY native scored in double digits in each contest, including a career-best 22 points in the Broncos' 92-74 victory at Fisher on Wednesday and a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the team's 56-51 win over Maine Presque Isle last Monday. Dean also had 18 points and eight rebounds at Maine Fort Kent on Friday, and rounded out his week totaling 17 points and six boards in a 78-67 win over Alfred State on Sunday.

After overcoming an 0-4 start, Dean and the Broncos find themselves at 13-11 were ranked 14th in the latest USCAA Division II Coaches' Poll. Delhi has an opportunity to qualify for the USCAA National Tournament with six games to play. This includes matchups this week at SUNY rivals Canton today at 7:00 p.m. and Cobleskill Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The USCAA Championship, hosted by Penn State Fayette, will field ten teams, with SUNY Delhi eligible to receive one of the six at-large bids.
