Women's Soccer Historic Season Ends in First Round of NCAA Tournament

Geneva, NY - The Women's soccer team's (9-7-4,5-3-2) incredible season ends in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, losing to No. 6 Williams Smith 12-0. This appearance marks the first time any Delhi athletics program has made it to an NCAA tournament after winning the NAC Championship.

The Broncos faced a tough Williams Smith for the first time ever, a team with a career record of (64-23-10) in the NCAA Tournament. The Green and Gold fought through both tough halves, putting up two shots with one threatening goal.

Delhi finishes a record-breaking 2022 season after lifting the NAC Conference trophy and playing in the NCAA Tournament for the first ever out of any program. Senior Kelsey Innes broke the record for most career goals and points while the Broncos ended their season going 7-1. With plenty of positives to reflect on, the Broncos will look to next year to return to the NCAA Tournament.

Comments from head coach Zach Ward: "We came to compete. There were certainly moments and phases in the game where we made William Smith take notice and made things uncomfortable for them. I'm really proud of how we carried ourselves when things weren't going our way. We've had a great campaign and accomplished everything we set out to do in 2022. We are saying farewell to four seniors and we are glad they were able to experience the NCAA tournament in a Delhi shirt. We turn our attention to the off-season and start preparing for 2023. Really proud of this team and they have set the standard moving forward."
