The Broncos Break Loose, Scoring Four in Win Against Cazenovia

Delhi, NY - Delhi (2-4-3, 1-2-1) snaps its losing skid with a big 4-0 win over NAC Conference opponents Cazenovia on Saturday. They collect their first conference win of the year as two Broncos secured their first goals of the season.

"It sure is nice to be back home. We spent a lot of September on the road and not picking up the results that we had been expecting so it was nice to be back in Delhi. The energy leading up to kickoff was really good. Our men's program set the mood of the day with a great win and we knew we needed to match it," said head coach Zach Ward, "Today was all about committing to play to each other's strengths and playing as one group. We talk a lot about doing our jobs and each of us today put in a shift we should be proud of. We've got captains in Reanen, Micayla and Casey that keep us rolling along on all levels. Today's win sets the standard moving forward and I'm excited to see what the group can do next time out.

Delhi applied the pressure early, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Their first goal came in the 11th minute of an incredible team effort. Senior Kelsey Innes would push the ball downfield before finding Micayla Slattery who dished it off to Olivia Lebrun for her first goal of the season. Slattery had one of her best games of the season later putting away a goal in the 17th minute for her first goal of the season. She later would add to her goal total, putting away a penalty kick to put Delhi up 3-0 in the 23rd minute.

Keeper Andraya Hunt had four saves in the first half as it would end 3-0. She kept her fourth clean sheet on the season after another great performance which puts her at the top of the NAC for shutouts.

The Broncos would get off to a fast start in the half yet again as Casey Bugbee sent a cross into the box for Kelsey Innes in the 48th minute. Innes who is Delhi's top scorer of the year found her fifth goal of the season. The Delhi defense held strong for the rest of the match, only giving up eight shots on goal without surrendering anything.

Delhi will prepare to face the Elmira Soaring Eagles on the road on Tuesday, October 4th at 4 pm.
