Delhi Women's Soccer Drops Second Match of Away Trip 2-1 against UMPI

Delhi - The Broncos (1-4-3, 0-2-1) went down to the wire against conference opponent UMPI Sunday afternoon but couldn't get over the hump falling 2-1. They had seven shots on goal but only got one goal through, snapping their three-game scoreless streak.

The Broncos found themselves down early as UMPI scored first in the 29th minute to pull ahead. Delhi put on plenty of pressure in the first half with seven shots but ended the half down one. 

It was the 64th minute when Delhi found the back of the net, tying the game. Freshman Kailey Leach scored the first goal of her college career coming off an assist from Kaitlyn Werthmuller. But the Owls found a late goal in the 74th minute to secure the win. Although the Broncos never stopped threatening with their last shot on goal in the final 30 seconds. They ended with eight shots on goal compared to UMPI's five.

Delhi ends its four-game away streak and now will look forward to their first home contest in 17 days. When they take on divisional opponents Cazenovia on October 1st at 3:30 pm.
