Delhi Dominates SUNY Poly in a 3-0 NAC Conference Win

Delhi, NY - The Broncos (4-6-4, 2-3-2) carried over their momentum from their last matchup, beating NAC West Division opponents SUNY Poly 3-0 at home. They now have scored nine goals in their last two appearances. After the win, Delhi jumped over the Wildcats in the NAC West to take over the division lead. They remain unbeaten through their four divisional matchups this season.

The Broncos came dashing out the gates as they had several threatening runs to start the game. Kelsey Innes was able to get the party started, putting away a wonderful cross from Olivia Curry from the corner in the 18th minute. Kelsey Innes now has eight goals on the season, good enough to place her third in total goals scored in the NAC. While Curry's five assists on the season put her tied for first in the NAC in assists with three fewer appearances than the other top player.

The Green and Gold would continue to stampede the Wildcats as Micayla Slattery would sink a goal set up by Kelsey Innes and Olivia LeBrun. Slattery continues to be a force in the Bronco's attack with six goals in the last six matches. With that assist and a goal earlier in the match, Innes makes history, tying Delhi alumni Katie Herba (2016-18) in most career points with 108.

The Broncos kept the pressure on for the rest of the half, holding the Wildcats to zero goals with keeper Andraya Hunt coming up with five saves.

The second half kicked off and the Broncos maintained their intensity. They would extend their lead to three after a Casey Bugbee goal in the 59th minute assisted by Micayla Slattery. Bugbee collected the ball just out of the 18 and perfectly placed a shot into the bottom left corner for her second goal of the season.

The Broncos would hold their lead over the Wildcats as Andraya Hunt would record her NAC-leading 5th clean sheet of the year. Before the match, the Broncos took the time to honor two of their seniors, Becky Drumm and Kristen Lombardo in their final seasons with the team. They have both meant a lot to the Broncos during their tenure with the Delhi Soccer program.

Delhi will move on and face off against conference opponents SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday, October 19th at 6 pm on Neil Riddell Field.
