SUNY Delhi Women's Soccer Falls in First Match of the Season against Cortland

Delhi- SUNY Delhi loses a tough opening match in non-conference action against SUNY Cortland, 8-0.

Facing top competition, the Delhi Broncos stood tough in a hard loss after finding themselves down early. The team never let up, seeing their best chance on goal in the 81st minute when Shaniyah Myers forced a turnover up high and took a shot from 20-yards out. Unfortunately, the shot went too high and was just one of the Bronco's two shots.

In goal Sophomore, Andraya Huntmade was busy, making five saves in around 75 minutes of action. Then sophomore Julia Ruppert came into goal for the final 15 minutes and made a save without giving up a goal.

Delhi will turn to the next match on Saturday, September 3rd, where they will hope to bounce back when they host SUNY ESF on their new home turf for the first time.

"Response and react," said head coach Zach Ward, "There are some takeaways from today that we can look at as we prepare for our home opener against SUNY ESF. Lots of season left to play."
