A Delhi Offensive Explosion Lifts the Broncos over the Mustangs 6-2

Delhi, NY - Delhi (3-6-4, 1-3-2) took down future NAC opponents SUNY Morrisville Wednesday night in a high-scoring affair. The Broncos scored a season-high six goals on their way to their first win since October 1st. They remain in second place in the NAC West Division with three matches left on the schedule. 

The Broncos would get on the scoreboard first and early as Olivia Lebrun would net a goal assisted by Olivia Curry off a corner in the 7th minute. The Mustangs would tie the game up after a goal in the 25th minute. Delhi would grab the lead back after Alanna Ruchar would find the back of the net for the first time this year. She would be set up by a superb setup from Kelsey Innes in the 33rd minute.

The Broncos would go on to step on the gas pedal for the rest of the match. Micayla Slattery would then add to their total, scoring a penalty kick in the 45th minute to put the Broncos up 3-1 and cap off a great half for Delhi. Slattery has found her form, scoring five goals in the past five matches. 

Delhi would increase their lead to 4-1 in the 66th minute as Kristen Lombardo would set up Innes for her first goal of the game. Innes was a huge factor in the game, being man marked by the Mustangs and still finding ways to make plays. She would go on to snipe another goal and put the Broncos up 5-1 in the 75th minute. Innes has officially been welcomed to the Century Club, scoring over 100 career points after tonight's match. She is just three points shy of 108 career points, the current Delhi record. 

Shaniyah Myers would cap off the incredible night, scoring a superb free-kick goal in the 85th minute for her first career goal. She hit the ball perfectly around the goalkeeper from a bit out of the box for one of the best goals this season. The Mustangs showed some late life and scored in the 86th minute to make the game 6-2. Delhi keeper Julia Ruppert would be credited with her first win of the season, making three saves on the night.

The Broncos will now look onward to their next matchup against NAC opponents SUNY Poly at 3:30 on Saturday, October 15th on Neil Riddell Field.
