The Broncos Collect Well-Earned Tie Against Thomas College 2-2

Delhi, NY - Delhi (2-5-4, 1-2-2) went down to the final whistle to earn their tie against Thomas College on Saturday. After previously falling 4-1 in their last outing the Broncos showed true resilience to bounce back and secure a conference point in today's match. The Broncos remain unbeaten in the NAC West Division with one win and a draw.

The Terriers started off the game early, finding the back of the net in the 16th minute to pull ahead one. But the Broncos would answer back and even out the score in the 37th minute. Casey Bugbee would work her way through a crowded box and put away a Delhi corner for her first goal of the season. Olivia Curry was on the assist and she placed a perfect ball for Bugbee to put away in the 37th minute.

Both teams went into the half with one goal piece after the Broncos had numerous solid attempts in the first from their 11 shots. The second half displayed all-around defensive efforts as neither team could formulate a significant offensive push. The stalemate went on till the 77th minute until Thomas College would break the tie.

As the sun came out to shine so did Delhi as Olivia Lebrun would send in the equalizer from outside the box in the 83rd minute. The shot was an incredible effort as she was placed near the right corner and fit it top right above the outstretched hands of the keeper. Kelsey Innes sent the pass that set up Lebrun for her second assist of the season.

Thomas threatened late but was halted by incredible diving save by Julia Ruppert who was subbed on in the 79th minute. The Broncos had an impressive day on the attack totaling 22 shots, forcing Thomas to make 12 saves.

The Broncos will quickly regroup and face off against conference opponents Maine Maritime on October 9th at 2:30 at Neil Riddell Field.
