JOHNSON, VT (February 12, 2022) – The men's basketball program wrapped up their regular season play against NVU-Johnson Saturday afternoon; defeating the Badgers 87-81 and putting the finishing touches on a 19-win campaign.
The contest couldn't have been more evenly contested through the first 15 minutes and that trend continued into halftime with nearly all statistical categories being equal, along with the score all tied at 40. Norman Wilson accounted for nearly half the Broncos points with 18.
The tight affair spilled over into the 2nd half with the lead being changed several times through the first 8 minutes. However, the Broncos were able to take the lead and never trailed the rest of the way, though Johnson, keeping it interesting, clawed back to tie the score at 75.
Wilson ended with a game high 32 points, shooting a perfect 6 for 6 beyond the arc and sinking all 4 free throws he attempted. Jacob Beach (16) and Erhunosere Uwuigbe (12) joined in with double-figures while Mavenson Therneus went for 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
The Broncos venture into the North Atlantic Conference postseason tournament next week as the overall 1-seed in the West Division; earning hosting rights for the quarter- and semi-finals. Their opponent is yet to be determined.
