WATERVILLE, Me. (November 8, 2021) - SUNY Delhi's 6'11" newcomer Nakhi Bishop (Spring Valley, NY / Ramapo) used his 10-point, 13-rebound career debut to land the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week, as well as aid in the Broncos' 89-75 win at Castleton Sunday in their season opener. It also marked the first NAC weekly award ever for the men's basketball program in their first year in the conference.

Bishop was one of three rookies in Head Coach Zack Thomsen's starting lineup against the Spartans, punching in 34 minutes of action and shooting 4-for-8 from the floor and a perfect 2-for-2 on his lone trip to the charity stripe. He produced eight points and six boards in the opening half, then turned in seven rebounds in the closing half as Delhi's consistent play between halves was enough to outpace the Spartans, pulling away after a 47-44 halftime advantage.

Bishop and the Broncos make their long-awaited return to their home court this Friday when they welcome Mount Saint Vincent for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff. It will mark SUNY Delhi's first competitive home game since its ACAA championship match on Mar. 1, 2020 when the Broncos beat Pine Manor, 94-42, for the league title.
