Men Fall For First Time in NAC

UTICA, NY (January 21, 2022) - The men's basketball team faced their biggest test within the NAC as they made the trip north to SUNY Poly in Utica.  With both teams undefeated in conference play and tied for the lead in the western division, the game had major implications as the winner would take the lead in the standings and have the inside track to homecourt advantage in the postseason.

The wildcats opened up an early lead and pushed it out to as many as 15 points.  The Broncos fought their way back and cut the lead to 10 by halftime.  They eventually cut the lead to as little as six points about seven minutes into the second half only to be rebuffed by another Poly run.  From there the game hovered right around a 10 point game most of the way until the Broncos started fouling in an attempt to extend the game.  The wildcats converted their free throws and pushed the final score to 81-61.

The team was led in the effort by freshman Emerson Therneus with 14 points and freshman Isiah Barnes with 12.

The men will have a day of rest before traveling down to Maryland to play a non-conference game against Salisbury University.
