Broncos Win First Game Back From Break

DELHI, N.Y. (January 8, 2022) - The Delhi men's basketball team returned from the break with Saturday's matchup against conference foe, Maine Maritime Academy. Led by juniors Mavenson Therneus and Norman Wilson, the team held off a second half surge by the Mariners to pick up their first win of 2022.  The win moves the team to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Therneus put together a stat line of 29 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and a block while fellow junior Wilson scored 24 points and added four rebounds and six assists.  Those two combined with Erhunosere Uwuigbe who added 14 points and 12 rebounds helped the Broncos build an 20 point lead with 1:25 left in the first half.  However, just before five minutes into the second half the Mariners put together a run that cut the lead to five points with 10:21 remaining in the game.  The back and forth game saw the Broncos respond and push the lead back to 13 points before holding on to win by 11.

With tomorrow's home matchup against Thomas College postponed, the Broncos will kick off a long string of seven road games with their next action at Northern Vermont University - Lyndon on Friday January 14th.
