The Broncos Take Down NAC Opponents Cazenovia in Four Sets

Delhi, NY - Delhi (9-7, 5-0) defeated the Wildcats three sets to one after a Sunday battle at home. The Broncos remain undefeated in NAC play with five wins against divisional opponents. The Green and Gold have started cooking once again with three wins in a row.

The Broncos started the match off a bit slow allowing the Wildcats to take the first set in the tiebreaker 26-24. They then regrouped and took the second set in natural Delhi fashion. The match started 2-2 but the Broncos never gave up the lead after that, winning the set 25-15. They had six different players record a kill with 12 total. While Jaiden Venute and Gianna Militi commanded the team through their serves, combining for 18 attempts and two service aces.

The third set was back and forth until Venute took over the serve at 11-11. She would go on to serve 11 consecutive times to pull away from the Wildcats 20-12. They eventually took the set in a dominant fashion 25-13 after the Broncos switched gears. Stephanie Burke added six kills in that set alone to help the Broncos.

The final frame was all Delhi as the Green and Gold started with the lead and never gave it up, winning 25-12. Eight different Broncos got in on the action as they combined for 11 kills and only one error.

Delhi hit an impressive 44 total kills, their third most of the season. Stephanie Burke's 12 kills were the most on the day. While Jaiden Venute added 29 assists, four service aces and 21 digs. Katelyn Babcock also had a solid game with a match-high three blocks and two service aces of her own.

The Broncos took some time before the match to honor their two seniors, Chloe Elsenbeck and Gabriela Kralik who joined the program in 2019. Delhi's next match will be at Elmira on October 18th at 6 pm before returning to Delhi to take on Morrisville State on October 20th. They will go on to play six matches in eight days to finish their 2022 season.
