The Broncos Take Down SUNY Canton to Extend Winning Streak to Six

Canton, NY - Delhi (7-5, 3-0) traveled to play NAC foes SUNY Canton at noon on Sunday and left with a win in four sets. After starting the season (1-5) the Broncos have turned it completely around. They are winners of six straight matches, including three conference matches. 

After finding themselves down in the first set 24-15 the Broncos made a miraculous comeback. They rattled off nine straight points on the back of nine Jaiden Venute serves to take the first set in the tiebreaker 27-25. They kept the momentum going in the second set winning 25-21 to pull ahead two. Then dropped the third, their first set of losses since September 16th. But the Broncos showed their resilience and closed the door in the fourth, taking the final set 25-21.

Stephanie Burke and Sage Renneisen had an excellent day on the Delhi attack, combining for 28 kills with 14 each. While Jaiden Venute had a career-high 42 assists to go along with three service aces. Her 42 assists are the second most by any Bronco in a match since alumni Kristen Tucker's 47 assists in 2010. The Broncos had 47 total attacks through the match, their second-highest total of the season. Alongside 18 service aces, which was the most the Broncos have through their 12 matches. 

The Broncos will now face NAC West Division opponents SUNY Poly on October 5th at home.
