SUNY Delhi Women's Volleyball is Back Underway

Delhi, New York- Almost 11 months separated last time SUNY Delhi Volleyball took to the court, but the team is back and getting ready for the 2022 season.

Last year was another successful season under 2021 NAC Coach of the Year Beau Bracchy, where the team went (21-6, 8-0). They look to the 2022 season with numerous reasons for optimism and another great season.

They are led by head coach Bracchy in his 18th season at the helm of the program he has built. He will look to build off last year and maintain his program at the level of last year, where they were a top seed heading into the NAC Conference tournament.

After making it to the semi-final match in the post-season tournament, 10 players will return to Bracchy’s squad. They will look to capitalize on the experience from this group while being reinforced by the youth of the new student-athletes.

Standouts from the returns include sophomore Rebecca Heuler, who last season averaged 5.68 digs per set for a total of 426 digs. Grace Thomas was an important part of the Delhi attack last year, posting 267 attacks with 676 assists. As well as junior Stephanie Burke, who had 245 points on 194 kills last season.

Four newcomers will be joining to round out the team. They jumped right into the action with their first exhibition match on August 23rd.

Notable home matches this year include when SUNY Cobleskill comes to visit on September 28th at 7:00 pm. After sweeping them in the regular season last year, Delhi fell to the Fighting Tigers in the West Division Semifinals.

They will then have a tough mid-season test when they face Hartwick on October 7th and then Oneonta on October 12th. Both home matches will be important games for Delhi, be sure to get out and show your support.

Then the Broncos take on Morrisville State on October 20th for their final match at home. The two haven't met since 2019, but expect a tight match against the future NAC competitors.

SUNY Delhi will officially open their 2022 campaign at home against MCLA on September 1st at 7 pm.

Comments from Bracchy on 2022 expectations: "To continue to solidify our C's.  Strive to Compete.  Communicate at all times.  Build our Chemistry.  Maintain our Composure and Confidence.  Continue to build our Culture."
