The Broncos Take Down SUNY Canton 1-0 and Advance to first ever NAC West Championship

Utica, NY - The Broncos traveled to SUNY Poly to take on second-seed SUNY Canton and left victorious with a 1-0 win. Delhi advances to their first-ever appearance in the NAC West Championship since joining the conference in 2019.

The Broncos lost their final regular season match against SUNY Canton 2-0, but the Broncos took down the Roos when it mattered the most. The match started with a stalemate between the two teams with neither team able to control the game for an extended period of time.

The first half would end with no goals scored as Delhi put up four shots to Canton's nine, while both keepers would finish the half with four saves. The Broncos would come running out the gates in the second half, scoring the first goal of the game off the foot of Michael Williams Jr. in the 47th minute. Williams Jr., who led the NAC in total goals through the regular season, got a favorable bounce off a defender to slot away the only goal of the match.

The Green and Gold played solid defense in the second half as the Roos would struggle to get any attack going. Canton would be held to five second-half shots, while Delhi keeper Jonathan Walch would help make sure to keep their lead. He had three pivotal second-half saves to bring his total to seven for the day and record his second clean sheet of the year.

Delhi will now match up with one seed SUNY Poly, as they will kick off for the NAC West Division crown on Sunday, October 30th at 1 p.m. in Utica.
